Help me write a Newborn Opry song!
My Newborn Opry Story by Ron Benfield I started coming to the Newborn Opry over six years ago. I could not believe that there was a place that I could go to that would be such clean cut fun. The old songs I loved and the Gospel were just something else. The cost was even better (anything I wanted to pay). I guess I loved it so much because I was what you would call a wannabe. I wanted to get up and sing but was scared to death. I had play my guitar on the couch since I was thirteen but never in front of anyone. Well As time past, I got to be good friends with Bob, the guy who runs the Opry. About 2 1/2 years ago I told Bob of how I would love to be able to get up on stage and Sing. He tried to get me there but I was too affaid. I told him I would love to get with a group that would not make fun of me and play for a small crowd. Bob took me the next week to a retirement center where the group Seasoned Sage was Playing. They are a great group of people that said they would not mind at all if I joined. We play at 5 different retirement homes a month. It has really gave me confidence and about a year ago, Bob put me on the Newborn Opry stage. He kept telling me that the larger the crowed, the easier it would be. Well the Newborn Opry crowd is something else. The first night, they were clapping and singing with me. They have cured me from a fear I've had my entire life. Since that time, I have been a regular. I have also played at other Opry shows and now I take my guitar everywhere I go. I have played from North Carolina to Florida in the last year and it's been due to Bob and the Newborn Opry Crowd. We are Family. Search Engines Favorite Sites |
